Walk the paths less traveled
It is important to try to find alternative ways to getting a job than only going for applying for jobs that have been advertised on big web sites or in news papers.

The best thing is to try to avoid the spots that the big masses are going for, one have to think outside the box. What is definitely inside the box is: “see job advertised then apply for it”.

Alternate ways of getting a job

1. Everybody knows about the big companies that are in the industry one is looking. The big companies are inside box since they often are very well known. The challenge is to find small unknown companies, perhaps with just a few employees and is in the startup phase.
2. Shift through every piece of info you get trough, on the strangest places there may be an article of a small company that is on the rise.
3. Get in touch and stay in touch with whoever you may dig up.

This is just some points off the top of my head; out of the box really means try to think of things nobody else is thinking of.
