Research
Do research and figure out what the salary level is at the place where you are about to start working. Do research and figure out what is the average salary level is in your sector. It is likely that there is some maximum salary level even how well qualified one might be.
Keep the expectations to you self
Do not mention expected salary in the job application. It may prove that you seem to expensive, or the company has budgeted a much higher salary for the job you are applying for.
Be aware of your market value
Try to figure out your market value. You would have a higher value if many companies are trying to hire you. It could be wise to mention it discretely that several companies are interested in you. Also if you have gotten several bonuses and achieved many goals in your previous work it is important to emphasis these, since it will make it easier to justify a higher salary.
Let the job interviewer raise the salary question
You should not take the initiative to raise the question of the salary during the job interview. The salary may be an issue where you have to negotiate.
